SEven Habits of Highly Effective leaders

One of the most important traits for any successful leader is a high level of self-awareness. It is impossible for a leader to help manage others in a meaningful way without the ability to manage their own life. The book The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People helps leaders do just that and has transformed the lives of millions of people over the past 35 years - many of those in leadership positions. This lesson takes the seven habits discussed in the book and shows how law enforcement leaders can use them in their professional and personal lives. There is a strong emphasis on creating new habits for improving communication skills, prioritizing life balance, and maximizing and maintaining important relationships - both personal and professional. This course is taught by a 7 Habits trained facilitator who has lived each one of the habits for over 30 years while serving in a variety of law enforcement leadership positions. These are the major topics to be discussed throughout this course:

*Recognizing the importance of being proactive in a profession that requires a lot of reactive actions.

*Beginning with the End in Mind: Before a leader does anything important, they need to picture what they want the end result to be.

*Understanding the difference between important and urgent when making decisions.

*Creating win-win scenarios whenever possible in an effort to avoid creating a loser in a relationship that is important to the leader.

*Seeking to understand the point others are making before the leader ever tries to discuss their position.

*Combining the strengths of people through positive teamwork, so as to achieve goals that no one could have done alone.

*Maintaining good relationships - personally and professionally - takes effort and commitment to stay in touch with those most important to us.
